I wrote a few weeks of my enthusiasm for the best-selling board game, settlers of Catan. My family and I Catan like so much that we bought with us on our vacation in Hawaii last week to bring the portable edition.

The portable edition is much smaller than the standard edition. Above is a photo compare the playing cards that come with the two issues.

The portable edition Board is also much smaller than the standard edition Board.

The portable edition is an advantage that the play pieces in holes in the Board tear so they are not too loose. This is great, because my 8-year-old daughter at least three times has a genetic predisposition for brush pieces of plates with a blow of her hand per game. Also, Setup is faster much with the portable edition-the standard Edition requires made up the Board and the flimsy cardboard want to pop pieces from square. (they should really make the pieces of wood tiles!)

The disadvantage of the portable edition is that the numbers for the hexes can be changed, as they can with the Standard Edition (I know that some people with neat workarounds that come to mind which is great). A more minor annoyance is that all the pieces divide and got mess after every flight, although the box has Vacu-form plastic storage bins to organize and keep the card and insert parts.

We enjoyed using the portable edition we arrived in Hawaii. But I wanted to play it on the airplane, because I was sure that we some needed cards or the many small pieces that would lose the game. The portable edition is the great addition for the Catan expansion packs, we will inevitably acquire so convenient, we will probably at home from now on reserve.
