The Ribosome: Structure, function & Evolution--an all access event Astrobiology

A two-day symposium with NASA Astrobiology Institute (NAI) remote communications tools, to "the Ribosome: structure, function & evolution" will be held on April 1-2, 2011. 2011 Suddath on Symposium brings together the Ribosome at the Georgia Tech researchers, explore the various aspects of the Ribosome structure and function. The Ribosome is a molecular machine, which is responsible for the protein synthesis in all living cells. This essential component of life, that contains RNA and proteins that can be considered a molecular fossil. In other words, the comparison of ribosomal RNA and proteins from distantly related organisms that remain imprinted in the Ribosomes of today's origins and development of protein synthesis is the a "rewindable" molecular picture of early evolution, which appears, go back to the origin of life. The Ribosome is the biochemistry of all life in the Centre, it is a great destination for drug development. For example, is the mechanism of action of many antibiotics to inhibit translation or cause bacterial Ribosome during protein synthesis to make mistakes. Due to the differences between bacterial and eukaryotic Ribosomes, the result of billions of years of divergent evolution, highly effective against bacterial Ribosomes without significant side effects in human cells may be drugs. So, studies of Ribosome have scientific implications of understanding the origin and early evolution of life on the development of new drugs structure, function and evolution.
